Dr Paul Odumu is the visionary founder of Odumehaje Medical Mission. He serves as the Chairman and CEO of the board. He shapes and guides the ideas of the board to align with the vision of the organization. He also coordinates the practice of doctors and other health professionals at the Missions and ensures absolute professionalism and safety are maintained.
Paul is a Family Physician/ Primary Care doctor and a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP) since 2010. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Jos Nigeria, in 1994.
Currently, he heads and Coordinates the Family Medicine Residency Program in the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna State, Nigeria where he serves as a Deputy Director (Medical) with the Nigerian Ministry of Defense.
Dr Odumu is a well experienced doctor in Rural Medicine as he has practiced Medicine in several Mission Hospitals in the rural areas from his early days as a young doctor. These hospitals include: Mkar Christian Hospital, as a House Officer ( resident doctor), NKST Hospital Mbaakon, Bethesda Hospital, Ikachi, both in Benue State, Nigeria; and Ika Christian Hospital in kogi State where he served as the Chief Medical Superintendent. He also gained a lot of experience while practicing for his fellowship in Family Medicine at the then ECWA Evangel Hospital, Jos, now, Bingham University Teaching Hospital, in Plateau State, Nigeria.
He also underwent several mission, leadership trainings with distinguished global Organizations, the latest was in 2017 with HAGGAI foundation, Kaduna chapter, where he learnt more leadership skills.
Dr.Odumu has several research publications to his credit among which is "Pattern of injuries in civil violence in Northern Nigeria." A paper presented at the 39th World Congress on Military Medicine, at Abuja, Nigeria.
Paul has chaired several committees and served on a number of other boards. Currently, he is the National Coordinator/Facilitator of Clinical governance research training at the Nigerian Ministry of Defense Abuja, and the Centre Lead investigator (CLI) of WACP - Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON) National research. He also serves as the Executive Chairman, SOFPON, Kaduna Zone, and a member of the Nigerian Medical Association ( NMA).
Being born and brought up in Odumehaje in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue state, Nigeria where Paul hails from, he was familiar with the sufferings of his people and his compassion began to grow at a very tender age.
Paul is passionate about helping the poor and sees his being a Family Physician as a tool in his hands to achieving this. He has a special interest in Lifestyle Medicine, Nutrition, Research and Tropical Medicine.
Paul is married to Martha Odumu, a Nurse and Midwife,and together, they are blessed with two lovely Children.
