Ene Ede is a Human Rights and Development Advocacy Professional from Nigeria. She had, until recently, been providing full-time gender strategic and programmatic advisory services to Search for Common Ground (SFCG), a global conciliation and mediation facilitation non-profit organization extensively active in Nigeria. Prior to that, she had been selected to serve on the leadership of a variety of public institutions including the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM). She has also been involved in civil society, women and youth platforms.
Ene Ede has also made significant contributions to human rights and development in Nigeria through her advocacy in the print media by publishing The Woman Today Newspaper and by facilitating Community Information Resource Centers, as well as serving as the Executive Director of the non-governmental-organization, Equity Advocates.
Within the past 20 years, Ene has garnered great insights and experience in election management, facilitation and participation by serving in a variety of capacities that include:
- Resource person in campaign secretariats
- Monitoring and observation facilitation and participation
- Voter mapping, mobilization and balloting.
She is currently on sabbatical from the Electoral Empowerment of Civil Society Project (EECSP) Consortium, as Gender and Social Inclusion Advisor, to fully commit herself to active engagement in the 2019 election as Deputy Governorship candidate for Benue State.
Ene Ede bagged a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the prestigious International Institute of Journalism, Abuja in 1998 and a bachelor's degree in Economics and Media studies from the University of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria in 1994. She also obtained a National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Business Education from the College of Education Akwanga, Nasarawa State, in 1988. This qualified her to serve as a Teacher, Journalist and Publisher.
As a public commentator, she is well-travelled and familiar with international and regional governance systems and frameworks and their operational possibilities and implications within Nigeria’s national jurisdiction.
